This documentary focuses on the pretrial detention center operated by the Ministry of State Security in East Berlin during the Cold War. The facility served as a site for the incarceration of political opposition members by East German socialists, who aimed to criminalize dissent. They employed broad "catch-all clauses" from various sections of the penal code to prosecute these individuals for alleged political crimes, such as treason. The documentary features testimonies from historical witnesses who provide inside information about the conditions faced during incarceration, as well as details regarding their eventual release, often facilitated through ransom payments made by West Germany.
The eyewitnesses featured in the documentary include Hans Schulze, Mario Röllig, Michael Bradler, Lothar Schulz, Gilbert Furian, and Monika Schneider.

During the 1960s, the world had changed, and the communist regime in East Germany could no longer force socialism on its people as it had in the 1940s and 1950s. Therefore, the Ministry of State Security switched from a sledgehammer approach to psychological warfare. In this documentary, we will create re-enacted scenes to create a better understanding of what happened during East German socialism. We will explain the mind games the Ministry of State Security played to gain confessions and force members of the opposition to work as confidential informants to dismantle the opposition.
